Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care involves realigning the spine and neck to their proper place with the body. This realignment can relieve pressure from muscles, ligaments, and other soft tissue, soothing pain in these areas.
There are several chiropractic techniques we use here at Ciarrocca Chiropractic Center. These techniques are Graston, Palmer Package, Activator, and Cox Flexion Distraction. The Graston technique uses a special instrument to release scar tissue and help a specific area heal.
The Palmer Package is a group of techniques that can be used to help with any chronic pain issue a patient has. Cox Flexion Distraction technique is a technique used to focus on healing the spine of the patient by using a special motorized table that gently stretches the spine.
Kinesio Taping
If you pay attention to sports, you will have seen top level athletes in all types of sports with Kinesio Tape affixed to various parts of their body.
Kinesio Tape is not only for the professional athlete, it is used to reduce swelling and inflammation; relax tired and overused muscles, and to support muscle movement, in a natural way with full range of motion maintained.
The clinical technique of Kinesio Taping is based on the body’s own natural healing process. Kinesio Taping supports the body’s musculature which then allows for the free flow of circulation of all body processes that may be affected.
Kinesio Taping first came on the scene with Olympic Volleyball players, and the effectiveness of the technique quickly spread to other athletes. Today, Kinesio Taping is used by medical practitioners and athletes all over the world.
Kinesio Taping is used in many diagnostic situations, including, but not limited to: carpal tunnel syndrome, low back pain; subluxations; knee problems; shoulder conditions; hamstrings, rotator cuff; groin, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis; edema; sprains among many others. It is also used to support muscles and protect them in a preventative way.
Corrective Exercise
Corrective exercises are used alongside chiropractic treatments to help speed up the body’s healing. Exercises are used to help increase mobility and flexibility that may have been lost due to an accident or illness. These exercises can be shown to you in our office, allowing you to perform them between chiropractic treatments to help your body heal.

Extremity Chiropractic Care
At Ciarrocca Chiropractic Center, we provide holistic chiropractic care that is personalized for your specific needs. This includes treatment for the extremities of the arms, legs, hands, and feet. Whenever your musculoskeletal system is out of alignment, it can lead to inflammation and irritation on the surrounding nerves and muscles. Learn how we can treat extremity pain with chiropractic care. Your Westfield chiropractor can help treat your elbow pain, wrist pain, knee pain, and ankle pain.
When you have inflammation or out of alignment in your skeletal system, it forces the bones to press against tissue where it should not. Here in the tissue, you have nerve endings and muscle fibers that become irritated and inflamed due to this issue. As a result, you have painful swelling, which we can resolve here at Ciarrocca Chiropractic Center.
Swollen and inflamed tissue causes undue pressure against your nerves and blood vessels. This prevents circulation from allowing your body to receive the right signals. When this happens, you can experience numbness, pain, tenderness, pins-and-needles, or other uncomfortable sensations. Some individuals suffer from a loss of mobility caused by this condition.
Treating Extremity Conditions
With chiropractic care, we are able to treat your extremity conditions without surgery or drugs. This allows you to repair your musculoskeletal system with a safe and effective method. There is no downtime when you get chiropractic adjustments including spinal decompression for extremity conditions. This means you can get right back to work or play after your therapy at Ciarrocca Chiropractic Center.
Meanwhile, we also offer manual chiropractic adjustments, especially for extremities. Our chiropractic extremity adjustments are ideally suited for ankle, wrist, knee, and elbow adjustments. This way you can realign your joints and limbs for proper functioning. Help to avoid extremity injuries and joint pain with routine chiropractic adjustments.
Sports Injury and Extremity Treatment
We also offer sports chiropractic care for individuals who have experienced a sports injury, such as traumatic injuries, slip and fall injuries, or concussions. Our treatment for a muscle sprain, torn ligaments, and other muscle injuries is also well received by athletes interested in non-invasive drug-free solutions. Our chiropractic doctor and a team of professionals will also provide you with nutritional and lifestyle advice. This will help you choose the right activities, exercises, and foods to improve your functioning. Our Westfield chiropractor will also be able to help alleviate your elbow pain, wrist pain, knee pain, and ankle pain.
Spinal and Joint Manipulation
Manipulation (also called adjustment) improves joint flexibility and spinal alignment. During manipulation, your chiropractor carefully applies pressure to affected areas. To treat disc problems, manipulation may be done to any part of the spine. This can help decrease pressure on spinal nerves.
Manipulation for headaches can help relieve nerve pressure, improve blood flow, and reduce headache pain.
Soft Tissue Mobilization
Other treatments may be suggested. These can help reduce pain by relaxing muscles and reducing swelling. They include:
– Trigger point therapy to ease muscle tension.
– Ice to reduce swelling and heat to relax muscles.
– Ultrasound and muscle stimulation to relax muscles, reduce muscle spasm, and improve blood flow.
– TENS (transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation) to reduce pain.
Stretching, Exercise & Posture
Stretching, exercise and posture are all elements that you can use to get your body back to where it should be and keep it there.
Moving in proper ways can help prevent future back pain from disc problems. For instance, always keep your body facing the task you’re doing. Avoid twisting or bending. Also, exercise regularly to help strengthen your back and stomach muscles.
Exercise can help ease shoulder pain and increase range of motion (how far you can move your arm). To start, try the pendulum exercise. Lean on a table or sturdy chair. Bend your knees slightly, and let the injured arm hang limp and relaxed. Slowly swing the arm in small circles. Continue for 30 seconds, then change the direction of the circles.
The shoulder is the body’s most flexible joint. It allows a wide range of movements, such as reaching and throwing. Because it is used often, the shoulder is prone to injury. Muscles, tendons, or other parts of the shoulder can be torn, swollen, or irritated. This can cause shoulder pain and movement problems.
It is important to know the specific exercises to follow to correct such issues – the wrong exercise can actually make your condition worse!
We work with you to determine what exercise plan it best, and we coach you though how to perform the exercises, always checking for improvement.
